Are you a strategic and dynamic engagement professional looking to make a real impact? This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead an alumni and supporter engagement strategy within a prestigious Oxford college.
About the Role
This newly created position will lead on the development and execution of a comprehensive alumni and supporter engagement strategy. Working as part of an expanded team, you'll be instrumental in strengthening relationships with alumni, supporters, and friends to support the college's fundraising ambitions and wider strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement an engagement strategy that fosters meaningful connections with alumni and supporters.
- Work closely with the Director of Development to innovate new engagement initiatives.
- Promote and champion supporter engagement across the college community.
- Provide leadership and mentorship as part of the development team.
Alumni Engagement
- Oversee a diverse programme of events, both in the UK and internationally.
- Manage a multi-channel communications strategy, ensuring compelling and relevant content.
- Develop an alumni volunteering programme, enhancing support for students and the wider community.
- Establish and nurture a global alumni network, coordinating professional and social events.
- Foster lifelong connections by embedding alumni engagement within the student experience.
Supporter Engagement & Fundraising
- Expand the network of supporters and friends, enhancing their connection to the college.
- Develop and manage an innovative regular giving programme, increasing donor participation and stewardship.
- Collaborate on donor recognition initiatives, including impact reports and tailored communication.
- Work alongside senior leadership to cultivate and manage relationships with key supporters.
General Leadership & Collaboration
- Represent the development team at senior management level, contributing to broader college objectives.
- Produce reports and insights for college committees.
- Work closely with university-wide networks to implement best practices in engagement.
- Line manage and support the Alumni and Supporter Engagement Officer and Regular Giving & Donor Relations Officer.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience in alumni, supporter, membership, or volunteer engagement.
- Strong track record in developing and delivering high-impact engagement strategies.
- Experience within a fundraising environment, ideally with exposure to regular giving programmes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work strategically while managing multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Proactive, innovative, and able to inspire enthusiasm within the team and community.
Desirable:
- Experience stewarding supporters and managing CRM databases for engagement and fundraising.
- A strong appreciation for the role of alumni and supporters in an academic setting.
