Head of Applications
Permanent - up to £90,000 per annum plus benefits
Based in Holborn 5-8 times per month
Key Responsibilties
- To Lead and Manage the Information Management team, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of projects, continuous development and business as usual support
- Managing the delivery of multiple Software initiatives and projects. Overseeing the design, development, testing and deployment of applications
- Define & implement best practice, methodologies and standards for software development, deployment & release management
- Be an example and lead from the front for software and applications delivery
- Manage the relationship with 3rd party resources and vendors, holding them accountable to deliverable agreed.
- Have a strong technical background and deep understanding of software and applications development methodologies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners and stakeholders
- Understand the functional needs of teams, including issues faced by these teams
- Develop and maintain an overall enterprise architecture for the systems and applications used by teams, and ensure alignment with this architecture through any change processes and projects
- Establish solid vendor relationships and contract management practices
- Collaborate within the technology group to develop short, medium and long term plans to deliver initiatives to enable and achieve organisational goals
- Lead and manage the Information Management team (5 individuals) to provide a suitable service to meet the needs of the organisation
- Stimulate a debate amongst organisation leaders and in key business areas as to how technology can drive and support future business
- Develop and present reports to responsible and interested boards on service levels, policy and procedure, compliance and other relevant topics
- Manage the department budget, with a particular responsibility for licensing and support arrangement.
- Conduct analysis; prepare feasibility studies and business cases for Technology transformation activities and/ or major Technology projects/ programmes.
- Manage the external partners who support and enhance the business systems ensuring service is maintained, any agreed KPIs/ SLAs are reported, tracked, and managed as agreed.
- Develop, manage, and report on agreed KPIs to stakeholders.
- Communicate development status on a regular basis to stakeholders, escalating any identified risks.
- Recommend cost effective technology solutions for business challenges.
- Ensure the on-time delivery of solution or enhancements.
