This is a newly created role, at the heart of a new organisational structure for Friends of the Lake District. The Head of Campaigns and Engagement is a vital recruit that will support the organisation to return to its pioneering roots, being bold and brave when it comes to campaigning ambition.

Salary: £52,522 FTE (full time equivalent)Location: Hybrid, between Kendal office and homeContract: Permanent Hours: 35 hours full time, open to reduced hours and 4 days per week Benefits: 25 days holiday (increasing to 30 with length of service), 6% pension contributionCulture: Flexible, life and family-friendly, supportive and collaborative

About the roleThe Head of Campaigns & Engagement is very much a 'hands-on practitioner' in their own right, leading and managing high-profile campaigns, events, and projects across the organisation.

You'll be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, playing a key role in the collective leadership of the charity, including the successful rollout of its strategic, organisational, and cultural evolution.

You'll be responsible for developing strategies for Campaigning, Communication, Membership/Volunteering, and Engagement. You'll take accountability for delivery against those strategic aims, managing your team to achieve targets agreed for each area.

A bit about the charity...Friends of the Lake District is an influential landscape conservation charity, founded in 1934 by campaigners who believed passionately in protecting the beautiful landscapes of Cumbria, and 90 years on they remain committed to this cause. Over the next three years, they'll deliver a new strategy, based on months of careful research and consultation. As a result, they're expanding and bringing new resources into many areas of the organisation to help ensure they are fit for the next 90 years. You'll be joining at a great time to build on our successes and help shape the future.

What about you...You'll relish the intellectual challenge of quickly getting to grips with complex issues relating to the unique landscapes of Cumbria. You'll also need the political sophistication to chart a course between positions that might often be entrenched or polarised.

We'll be looking for you to demonstrate:

* Seasoned campaigning skills, delivering public-facing advocacy campaigns that gain traction in the media. * Effective leadership, with ability to inspire and galvanize people whilst allowing the space and freedom for independence. * Exceptional communication skills with high emotional intelligence, able to navigate complexity with nuance. * Creativity, you unlock innovation as an individual and leader. * Positivity, optimism and solutions-focused approach, able to see a path through short-term challenges and maintain morale and vision.
