Head of Commercial Finance - MRK Associates : Job Details

MRK Associates are proud to be exclusively partnering with this highly successful service business based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire who are looking for a qualified accountant to join them as Head of Commercial Finance. This is a newly created position due to growth in the business reporting to the CFO working on a flexible hybrid basis.

This job would suit an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant with a strong track record of post-qualified commercial finance experience to support and challenge the business on new initiatives, projects and strategic deliverables whilst playing a vital role as part of the senior management group.

This is an international Group what has been established in the UK for 15 years with UK turnover at c.£120M for 2024/25. Turnover is expected to double and double again in the next 8 years following the current trend. Due to the nature of the business and solid systems, the finance team is small at 5 people and this is managed by the Financial Controller. This role is initially a stand-alone role to drive important value-add activity in the business and create recognised models, business appraisals and commercial thought process for all key stakeholders. Expectation will be for team development and growth in the future.

The successful individual will be a qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA Accountant with a strong track record in working on key business initiatives, building financial models and assessing business cases whilst working with non-finance to improve decision-making from a financial viewpoint. Experience of implementing new commercial finance initiatives into a business and driving business change is imperative for this role.

Job responsibilities:

• Work with the wider management team to implement the strategic plan. Challenge the team to build robust business cases and plans
• Represent finance on all projects ensuring the teams requirements are met, understood and maintained

• Support the building of the budgets and forecasts for both income and costs
• Create and maintain a variance analysis report which shows under or over performance with detailed commentary as needed

• Produce financial models to assess the viability of partners both existing and potential
• Work with the wider management team to identify and implement areas to improve partner performance

• Analyse all management information to look for opportunities to improve process and performance
• Review customer pricing models to ensure they are targeted, deliver good customer and business outcomes
• Calculate cost per acquisition for different revenue sources, challenge and improve where possible
• Build and maintain a monthly cash flow model
