Location: Bemerton Heath Centre, Salisbury, SP2 9HU
Salary: £39,513 - £43,693 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week

Salisbury City Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Community Services to lead and innovate our community engagement initiatives.
This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Salisbury residents while working in a strategic and operational leadership role.
Role Specifications:
- Develop and implement the Council’s Community Engagement Strategy.
- Identify and deliver community-based projects that enhance social, economic, and environmental well-being.
- Manage and maintain community hubs, ensuring their functionality and alignment with Council priorities.
- Forge and strengthen partnerships with statutory, voluntary, and private sector organizations.
- Secure funding through grant applications and oversee the effective use of budgets for community projects.
- Provide leadership to a dedicated team, inspiring excellence and collaboration.
- Act as a safeguarding lead for children and vulnerable adults.
- Represent community interests within the Council’s strategic planning and decision-making processes
Person Specifications:
We are looking for a visionary leader with a proven track record in community development and partnership working. The ideal candidate will have:
- Effective partnership collaboration and stakeholder influence.
- Comprehensive management of buildings, financial, physical, and human resources.
- Inspirational team leadership.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of community development and engagement.
- Key legislation, including Safeguarding, Equality Act 2010, Health and Safety, and community activities.
- Strategic planning and organisational capabilities.
- Networking, negotiating, and problem-solving proficiency.
- A commitment to inclusivity and respect for diverse lived experiences.
