With an excellent company culture they work well as a technical team to deliver cutting edge solutions using a modern tech stack and approach. The Head of Engineering sets the tone for the business, driving decisions on technology and process, as well as leading on culture and engagement of the team. The RoleAs Head of Engineering, you'll inspire and empower the talented technical teams to create cutting-edge mobile apps and innovative products. Shaping the technology landscape, driving innovation and ensuring the business are set up to deliver exceptional solutions to the customer, you'll collaborate with a Senior Leadership Team to set the strategic direction, while mentoring and developing engineers. The role presents an opportunity to make a significant impact to the product, projects and company culture.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Agile Teams: Oversee multiple Agile teams, ensuring smooth delivery and addressing complex challenges.
  • Mentor and Develop: Coach and mentor software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Drive Innovation: Encourage innovation and explore emerging technologies to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Ensure Quality and Security: Maintain high standards of quality, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
The PersonWe're looking for a confident, technically proficient leader to guide our software engineering teams. You'll inspire and empower our engineers to deliver exceptional products.
  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Strong technical background, including experience with mobile app development and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Deep understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, make data-driven decisions, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with security frameworks (ISO27001, PCI) and compliance requirements.
This is a leadership role and will require candidates who're able to build relationships across the business. This is best done in person and so you'll need to be able to spend 2 days per week in the office, Newcastle city centre. The role comes with a salary of up to £120,000 and generous benefits package, including bonus.
