Transparent is delighted to be supporting this highly successful business in the recruitment of a Head of Finance to lead the Finance Department and report into the Board of Directors. This role offers a genuine career path to Finance Director.

Key duties will include:
Strategic Financial Leadership - Develop the financial strategy, aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Board, providing insights and recommendations on business decisions, market opportunities, and potential risks.
- Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning.
Financial Management and Reporting - Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure.
- Prepare and present insightful financial analysis and reports to the board, providing a clear view of financial performance and KPIs.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management - Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, including UK GAAP and HMRC requirements.
- Oversee audits and liaise with auditors to meet statutory requirements and regulatory expectations.
Operational Finance Oversight - Oversee the finance function, leading a small finance team to ensure effective day-to-day management of accounting, payroll, invoicing, and credit control.
- Implement and refine financial systems, processes, and reporting tools to support the Heads of Departments.
- Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and external advisors.
Business Partnering - Partner with senior management to support key decision-making, providing financial insights for product pricing, cost management, and investment opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with operations, commercial, and engineering to develop initiatives that optimise margins, improve profitability, and support growth.
- Support commercial negotiations with customers, suppliers, and external partners.
People and Team Development - Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration, so that financial knowledge and awareness is embedded across the business.
Key Skills and Experience
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Experience: Proven track record in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Commercial: Strong understanding of commercial finance, cost management, and profitability drivers within an SME
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in building and leading effective finance teams in an SME setting.
- Systems: Strong proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems.
