Head of Finance - Gateway Housing : Job Details

Gateway Housing are partnering exclusively with Robertson Bell in their search for a permanent Head of Finance. Gateway Housing are committed to making sure that they are a great landlord by offering affordable, well maintained and properly managed homes. They also have ambitious plans to build more homes so as many people as possible can meet their housing needs in the East End of London.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, IT & Governance, the Head of Finance will lead the finance capability to deliver the strategic plan ensuring financial viability, risk management and optimal use of all financial resources. The post holder ensures the timely preparation of the financial plan, budget, management accounts, forecast, statutory accounts, regulatory, government and statistical returns and leads the efficient operation of the treasury function as well as supporting the management of the shared procurement service.  The role will require strong relationship building with peers across Gateway’s leadership group and provide regular exposure to the executive team including the chief executive.

The role:

• Lead and inspire a team of finance business partners and through them an extended team to deliver the strategic plan
• Drive continuous improvement of the finance function through the design and implementation of strategic delivery projects
• Partner extensively with the business to support production of our long-term financial plans
• Support strategic improvement across all directorates
• Ensure financial viability and best use of financial resources
• Provide operational financial control across the organisation, in line with financial regulations and overall governance and assurance framework
• Efficient operation of the treasury management function including liquidity, covenants, debt, interest rates and treasury strategies
• Liaise with internal and external contacts to insure against risks and manage insurance claims
• Ensure compliance with all applicable external and internal accounting regulations and policies

Essential criteria:

• CCAB qualified accountant
• Proven experience in social housing
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Financial planning, budgeting and forecasting experience and an alignment with organisational mission and objectives
• Previous experience driving change projects across a finance function
• Risk management including identification and mitigation

The position will be based at Gateway’s head office at Mile End and requires two days a week of office attendance. The closing date for applications is 5th March with first stage interviews taking place on the week commencing 17th March.
