As the Head of Fleet, you will be a leader in our Operational Support function, ensuring our commercial vehicle and company car fleets are well-maintained, cost-efficient, and legally compliant.

At SGN, we pride ourselves on keeping our customers and colleagues safe and warm, and this is how you will do that as Head of Fleet…

  • Lead our Fleet team, ensuring all commercial vehicles and company cars are legally compliant, well-maintained, and cost-efficient.
  • Develop and implement innovative fleet strategies, including introducing new technologies, cost-saving initiatives, and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with senior management and key stakeholders across SHE, HR, Finance, Operations, and suppliers to align fleet policies with business objectives and reduce operational costs.
  • Manage fleet budgets with precision, conducting regular reviews and forecasting to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Ensure all SGN vehicles and drivers meet the highest safety and legal standards, committing to compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Oversee third-party service providers, ensuring they meet or exceed performance standards through robust improvement plans and regular reviews.
  • Implement initiatives to reduce road risks, working with accident management providers and insurers to minimise motor claims and accidents.

We are looking for a leader with fleet expertise and technical capability. Please make sure to highlight any of the below on your application/CV when you apply, so we can see your strengths.

  • Ideally, a certificate of professional competence and membership in a fleet professional body such as ACFO, ICFM, or CAFM, but not essential.
  • Thorough understanding of fleet costs, budgets, vehicle engineering, maintenance, and repair.
  • Experience managing a large, diverse fleet for a multi-site business, with strong planning, organisational, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and suppliers, driving strategic initiatives and communicating effectively.
  • Strong data analysis and manipulation skills to deliver cost-effective and high-quality fleet services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fleet legislation and O licence obligations.
  • Expertise in project and resource planning, with excellent communication and contract management skills.

If you do not tick all the boxes listed above but feel you could bring something great to this role, we would love to hear from you! We provide our own specialised learning and development programs so you will have access to learning tools to help you acquire the skills you need to be successful.
