Job Description :

We’re looking for an experienced Fundraising leader to join us as our Head of Fundraising Operations on an 18 month fixed term contract. As we near the start of a new 10 year strategy this is an exciting time to join the Trust and play a pivitol role in achieving the Trust’s ambitions for the future.

Against the backdrop of new strategy and ambition, the need to fundraise at scale has never been more vital. Championing the culture change needed to create a more fundraising friendly organisation, we will create and deliver national campaigns at scale to achieve a more balanced portfolio of fundraising income streams.

Through your ability to bring a professionalism and rigour to our fundraising activity, you will lead our Fundraising Operations team, bringing together all the necessary elements to drive outstanding relationship management of our fundraising income streams.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there’ll be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there’s flexibility on where you’ll be based at other times. You’ll be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing:

As Head of Fundraising Operations, you’ll be responsible for the Fundraising Operations team, leading an effective operational engine to act as a national hub for fundraising best practice, to underpin the necessary growth required in fundraised income for the Trust. With a remit encompassing business and campaign planning, performance and financial management, stewardship and events, gift administration, data management, prospect research and portfolio management, due diligence and compliance, you will ensure our activities are strategic, co-ordinated, effective, and deliver appropriate operational support.

As an active and visible member of the Fundraising Senior Leadership Team, you will lead for the professionalisation of the Fundraising family to build our reputation internally and externally, and provide the necessary foundations for effective relationship building by the front-line income streams.

We’d love to hear from you if you have;

  • Experience leading fundraising operations’ activities, preferably within a complex/matrix organisation
  • Knowledge of overseeing fundraising policy and procedure guidance, including relevant compliance/regulatory requirements
  • The ability to collaboratively contribute to organisational strategy and develop/implement business processes, including performance management.
  • Background in and comfortable analysing, interpreting and communicating complex and fast-moving management information to senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading on major fundraising campaigns, preferably within the context of significant organisational change
