The Role

As the Head of History, you will:

  • Lead the History department, fostering a culture of curiosity and engagement with the subject.
  • Plan, deliver, and oversee high-quality teaching and learning from KS3 to KS5.
  • Support your team in delivering an inspiring and enriching curriculum that promotes critical thinking and a deep understanding of historical events.
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to ensure continued success and improvement.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align the department's vision with the wider school goals.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an ambitious and driven leader who:

  • Has a proven record of outstanding teaching in History, ideally at KS4 and KS5.
  • Demonstrates leadership experience or the readiness to step into a Head of Department role.
  • Possesses excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to inspire students and staff alike.
  • Is committed to fostering a love of history and delivering exceptional student outcomes.
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and is eligible to work in the UK.
