Central London

£120,000 - £150,000 (Early Start)

Client:

Our client is at the cutting edge of sustainable energy as they deliver state of the art charging facilities on forecourts and hubs across the UK. As part of their expansion they are seeking to employ an well qualified lawyer who will report into the General Counsel, and who will take on the role Head of Legal & Property.

Role Overview: 

Responsible for overseeing a commercial property portfolio of some 180+ properties with EV charging, commercial battery, and solar facilities; providing legal advice to a variety of internal stakeholders and managing an out-sourced property legal team.  

Main Responsibilities:

  • Pro-actively oversee all legal aspects of the property portfolio for the business, from initial agreement, through to lease and disposal.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, playing a leading role on the oversight of the property portfolio and as the subject matter expert.
  • Develop networks and take a leading role in managing the relationships with the external lawyers and consultants.
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on a broad range of issues across a range of electronic charging related property contracts, including heads of terms, options, and agreements.
  • Provide advice and assistance in the formulation and drafting of policies and procedures in response to changing legislative and regulatory frameworks.  
  • Identify opportunities to better manage legal property risk and increase knowledge/awareness of relevant legal issues.

 Required Experience:

  • Trained in a top tier legal firm with recent in-house commercial property experience  
  • Managed a sizable commercial property portfolio or similar, ideally within operational retail, leisure, or related sectors. 

Required Skills and Abilities:  

  • A comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of property, planning, and consenting legal issues and experience in leading negotiations on property, planning and consenting agreements. 
  • Ability to quickly build working relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure delivery of property matters to required timetable and budget.  
  • Commercial approach to problem solving, risk and solutions to issues. 
  • An understanding of the wider legal issues affecting the EV-charging market. 
  • A passion to work as part of a high performing team, sharing knowledge, best practice and supporting colleagues.
  • Able to articulate legal principles and concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Qualified lawyer in England & Wales with a minimum of 8-10 years PQE with significant commercial property experience.
