Head of Procurement- Chorley- Flexible Working-£75k-£80k basic, £7,400 car allowance plus bonus***Exclusively Advertised by Axon Moore***This role is extremely exciting and a new position within our client’s business, this role will also have scope for developing a full procurement team over the coming months.Our client is a PE backed specialist provider of technical services who are part of a group of companies with a national coverage. Axon Moore is looking for an extremely experienced Head of Purchasing to join this growing organisation.This role Heads up the groups procurement function, you will be required to build strong relationships with colleagues and the supply chain to enable you to deliver the most cost efficient goods and services without compromising on quality. You will have full responsibility for developing, implementing and managing standardised procurement processes across the group which can be leveraged to add value.**Please note this role will be based in Chorley but allows flexible working 1-2 days a week**More about the role:-Running Tender Activities You’ll be responsible for ensuring suitable tender processes are run to achieve the best value for money;
  • You will manage procurement requests raised by the business
  • This includes sourcing multiple suitable quotes where necessary
  • You will also enter long term framework arrangements for goods and services which the company buy on a repeat basis
  • Responsibility for ensuring terms and conditions are reviewed against the internal group policy, and then negotiated to the best position for the business
Track Your SavingsYou’ll develop a method to log savings that have been generated for the business.
  • This will be used so the targets can be set and monitored
  • This information may also be utilised to support business cases for further investment within the procurement team
Build and Manage a TeamYou will head up the procurement team and therefore are responsible for the hiring and ongoing development of all staff.
  • Ensure we are recruiting ‘A Players’ who want to grow with the organisation
  • You’ll ensure you develop the staff that you manage
  • You’ll work alongside the Commercial Director to develop the team structure
Develop, Implement and Manage Procurement Processes You will be responsible for standardising the way the business buy things throughout the group, whilst ensuring that we utilise the chosen systems
  • Ensure that suitable data is captured for all purchases across the group
  • Develop our systems to be fit for purpose with the in house PMO and development team
  • Create new processes & controls, and then ensure they are successfully implemented across the group
You will naturally become a trusted business partner to a number of key colleagues, and the company want you to become the go to person for any procurement related activities
  • You will liaise with theHeads of, to develop and deliver on the groups strategy
  • You’ll work with newly acquired organisations to ensure they begin utilising the group processes and approved supply chain partners
  • You’ll get involved in some tendering and estimation support as and when needed, to enable the business to accurately quote for new work
Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelors or master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Purchasing/Procurement
  • CIPS or similar professional membership
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar role.
  • Experience of operating in a multi-divisional organisation would be beneficial.
  • Up to date knowledge of contractual law and procurement practice.
  • Proven negotiation experience.
  • A track record of managing and developing high performing teams.
