Head of Underwriting - Commercial P&C

Location: Home based with occasional visits to London

As the Head of Underwriting, you will be joining the senior leadership team to ensure quality underwriting practices across the binders in a specialist commercial market. This role requires someone with a strong track record in Portfolio management and experience in commercial combined UK P&C liability at a senior level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the portfolio across binders, ensuring profitability and growth.
• Provide oversight on binder agreements to ensure underwriting profitability on a portfolio level.
• Take ownership of managing the account to deliver profit.
• Work closely with insurers to manage the book and binder fully.
• Lead a small underwriting team, with potential for significant growth.
• Visit London when required for business meetings and events.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in commercial combined UK P&C liability at a senior level.
• Strong portfolio management experience.
• Ability to work closely with insurers and take ownership of underwriting functions.
• Experience managing a team and driving profitability.
• Gravitas and leadership skills to lead the underwriting team effectively.
