WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to oversee and manage all health, safety, and environmental aspects across our retail catering operations. This role is critical in ensuring that all our catering outlets are compliant with UK health and safety regulations, fostering a safe environment for both staff and customers. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to risk management, extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation, and a proven track record in implementing effective safety strategies in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all retail catering outlets are compliant with current UK legislation (HSE, Food Safety Act, etc.) and company policies. Conduct regular site audits and risk assessments.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential hazards and risks in the catering environment, including food handling, fire safety, kitchen equipment, and customer areas. Implement control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies, processes, and procedures tailored to the catering sector.
  • Incident Management: Lead investigations into any accidents, near misses, or incidents, identifying root causes, corrective actions, and ensuring timely reporting to relevant authorities.
  • Training and Development: Deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs to all levels of staff, including new hires, kitchen personnel, and managers, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Work closely with catering teams to maintain high food hygiene standards in line with HACCP guidelines, overseeing food safety management systems and audits.
  • Fire Safety: Ensure appropriate fire risk assessments and drills are conducted, and that fire safety equipment is maintained.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of incidents, audits, and training. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on health and safety performance and improvements.
  • Contractor Management: Ensure third-party contractors adhere to health and safety regulations while working on-site.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of changes in legislation, industry best practices, and emerging trends related to health and safety in the catering sector.

YOU ARE

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety (essential)
  • IOSH Chartered Membership (desirable)
  • Solid knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, especially those relevant to retail and catering.
  • Experience with HACCP and Food Safety regulations.
  • Proven experience in a health and safety role within the catering, hospitality, or retail sectors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective measures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and coach staff at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites and travel as required.
  • Proficiency in health and safety software, Microsoft Office, and reporting tools.
  • Experience in delivering training programs.
