Role Overview:
Whilst this role will be to provide EHS and CDM support to the small minor works team on site in project delivery, you will be part of the EHS team on site and at times will be required to support with the day-to-day EHS support to our operational teams when required.
To assist the local implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives, including project delivery, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment, adherence to related statutory duties and the furthering of best practice standards.
Responsible for the co-ordination and provision of all EHS support to the contracts and wholly consistent with EMCOR UK’s and GSK’s EHS policies and procedures.
Be a link into the WREF Client EHS and Operational Teams as directed by the EHS Manager.
What you'll do:
- To advise, comply and review EMCOR’s EHS policy and procedures, all legal requirements, and best practice.
- To assist the project team in ensuring that they are compliant with all EHS: statutory requirements, accredited processes and procedures, contract and Client specific requirements.
- To report on EHS performance to the EHS Manager monthly and to assist the contracts to achieve KPI’s.
- To support in the review of Risk Assessments.
- To assist in reporting of all EHS accidents/incidents/near misses ensuring timely investigations are undertaken, ensuring comprehensive reports, corrective actions and updates as required within set timeframes.
- To assist in ensuring that your area of responsibility, is compliant with all EHS: statutory requirements, accredited processes and procedures, CDM, contract and client specific requirements.
- To support initiatives and best practice activities in all areas of EHS Management.
- To undertake regular structured inspections and audits, as defined by the needs of the contract within the project team and independently minimum weekly.
- To encourage, support and embed the culture change programme that embraces and supports EHS principles and goals. Promoting "Changing the Way we Work Concepts".
- To assist in the co-ordination of interactions with relevant statutory bodies and regulatory agencies e.g. Health and Safety Executive.
- To advise and support the contract management on all EHS issues, promoting accountability and responsibility. Engaging with the project team to empower ownership. To develop close working relationships and networks within the contract, client, supply chain and business and support the advancement of EHS.
- To provide guidance and practical expertise on all matters related to EHS to both internal and external customers in the delivery.
- To promote and always maintain the Missions and Values of the Company.
- To support effective business communication through advice, review, direct contribution to management and team meetings, briefings, consultation forums, correspondence, publicity when required.
- To assist as necessary with reviews of existing Policies, Procedures, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work. To bring to the attention of the EHS Manager any hazards or risks not addressed in the Company Safety Policy or procedures.
- Assist project and operational teams by attending pre audit reviews and as requested attendance at EHSrelated client audits.
- To be familiar with, review and contribute and communicate EHS related non-conformance of any external / internal EHS related databases i.e. Sypol, Crimson, Assurity, Intelex etc,
- Provision of ad hoc and scheduled EHS training as required/directed by the EHS management team.
Who you'll be:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
- IEMA or similar in environmental awareness.
- Evidence of continuing professional development (member of IOSH).
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health and safety related role.
- Previous experience of working in a regulated environment.
- Auditor trained or auditing experience.
- Experience of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 and 45003 standards
- Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of safety and risk management.
- An understanding of CDM2015 and BS 5975 Temporary Works Standard.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems, procedural technical and HSE compliance.
- Methodical and disciplined approach to work prioritisation.
- Good oral and written communicator at all corporate levels.
- Empathetic & empowering.
- Support the coordination of the work activities and control.
- Excellent networking skills and the ability to build / maintain relationships at all levels.
- Understanding of EHS legislation.
