Job Description: We are looking to appoint a full-time Lead Teacher of History who can inspire and excite students in their learning of History. You will be joining a well-resourced department that is driven by our focus on raising achievement. History is a popular option at GCSE. The post offers outstanding opportunities for continuous personal and professional development for a highly motivated and ambitious teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher looking for their next step or a new environment. We also work closely with the other Humanity subjects to support progress and learning across all key stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging and comprehensive history lessons for students from KS3 to KS5.
  • Lead and manage the history department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and oversee the humanities curriculum, incorporating innovative teaching methods and resources.
  • Support the professional development of newly qualified teachers and other staff members.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support to raise attainment levels.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Liaise with parents, staff, and external stakeholders to support student development and school initiatives.
  • Contribute to the school's safeguarding and pastoral care policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) with a degree in History or a related field.
  • Proven experience in teaching history at secondary school level, with a track record of raising student attainment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in leading a department or team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students and staff.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for education.
