Day-to-day of the role:
- Personalised Support: Tailor support for students with special educational needs and autism, focusing on both academic and social development.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with teaching staff to implement effective individual education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.
- Social Skills Development: Facilitate and encourage positive social interactions among students to enhance their social skills and integration.
- Progress Monitoring: Keep detailed records of student progress, providing valuable feedback to both educational staff and parents to foster a collaborative approach to education.
- Innovative Teaching: Employ specialized instructional strategies designed to enhance learning outcomes and maintain student engagement.
- Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development to remain at the forefront of educational practices related to SEN and ASD.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven Experience: Solid background as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), particularly in SEN/ASD settings. HLTA qualification is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Expert Knowledge: Deep understanding of the educational needs and challenges faced by students with special educational needs and autism.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Independent and Team Work: Capability to operate both independently and as part of a team within a vibrant educational environment.
- Commitment to Development: A strong commitment to personal and professional development, with a focus on continuous learning.
