About The Role:
Days of Working: Variable across the week.
Shift Pattern: Two earlies, two late shifts.
Role Overview:
Security Screening & Baggage Maintenance Officers are responsible to monitor hold baggage to ensure that all departing flights are safe from acts of unlawful interference within civil aviation. This involves examining 3D images of baggage which passes through an X-ray machine to check for any prohibited or dangerous items. The Officers will also be responsible to monitor and maintain the Baggage Handling Systems used to convey both departing and arriving hold baggage.
Key responsibilities:
- Analysing images of possible threats using approved equipment at various locations across the Airport
- Escalating possible threats by adhering to the Operating Procedures
- Assist with completion of the daily Equipment Testing regime
- Monitor the Baggage Handling System for both arriving and departing hold baggage
- To respond to any bag jams or baggage related issues along the Baggage Handling System and to escalate faults as required
- Successfully complete and maintain grades associated to Approved Security Training Organisation (ASTO) HBS Training, Certification Examinations, and re-current training
- Achieve the service delivery and regulatory standards and performance targets set by the HBS Supervisors and Management
- To represent the Hold Baggage Screening department to customers, passengers, and the aviation industry in such a way as to inspire respect, credibility and a reputation for excellent customer and business services.
- Create and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues in Cork Airport to maximise the growth of the Security business.
- Proactively monitor the OCS customer service desk and assist with customer enquires.
- Assist in belt jamming
- And Shop and collect items from front desk
What you will need:
- Attention to detail - security screening officers need to be able to spot items or details that could compromise the safety of a flight, so they must be observant. A colour blind test will also need to be undertaken.
- Interpersonal skills - security screening & baggage maintenance officers must remain professional, calm, and polite at all times, even under stressful circumstances. Communicate effectively with other Airport personnel and passengers, and be physical fit to lift items as and when needed.
- Communication skills - security screening officers speak to people of all different languages and backgrounds when conducting bag searches, so they must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Physical strength & agility- it's important that security screening & baggage maintenance officers are physically fit and able to lift 32kgs. There will also be a requirement to use ladders and other maintenance equipment so physical strength and agility is crucial to this role.
- Flexibility - As airports are open 24/7, this is a shift-based position, so flexibility is key. As situations change, security screening officers need to be able to adapt, think on their feet, and remain calm, so it's important that they're flexible
- Leaving Certificate - a s a minimum training requirement
- 5 year checkable employment history (to be able to obtain an Airside pass)
Garda Vetting must also be successfully completed every 5 years (to be able to obtain an Airside pass
