Job Description :

Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Housing Manager to work with one of our Housing Association clients in London.

What the job will be doing

  • Annually review and implement the Housing Team Plan.
  • Manage two Local Housing Centres and head office reception service and the team of staff responsible for the delivery of housing services
  • Ensure that long-and short-term voids are appropriately managed to ensure the void period is kept to a minimum.
  • Ensure staff satisfactorily undertake their responsibilities with respect to tenancy and leasehold management.
  • Be responsible for the management of the Estate Service team(s) to ensure that the cleanliness and safety of the local neighbourhood is maintained to a high standard.
  • Ensure an effective working relationship between Housing Officers and Estate service staff to address any incidents of inappropriate refuse disposal and anti-social behaviour.
  • Oversee regular Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) panels to ensure that all staff respond appropriately to reported allegations of anti-social behaviour, ensuring that they are properly investigated and correctly recorded.
  • Deputise for the Head of Housing Management Services at meetings as and when required.
  • Carry out all management action relating to staffing issues including annual appraisals, one to one sessions, recruitment and selection processes, sickness management, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Ensure staff perform their duties in accordance with agreed management standards, identifying the need for additional support and training and ensuring that staff attend all identified mandatory courses.
  • Manage allocated budgets efficiently and effectively in accordance with the financial regulations

What you will need

  • Experience of managing a Local Housing Centre.
  • Experience of managing and motivating staff to deliver excellent customer services, including experience of dealing with performance issues.
  • Experience of proving a customer focussed service in a challenging environment.
  • Extensive Knowledge and understanding of the role of a Local Neighbourhood Centre.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to work effectively and professionally with Board members, tenants, leaseholders, contractors, managers and staff.
  • Ability to resolve complaints and disputes.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a diverse and dispersed team of staff including caretakers, housing and technical staff.
  • Detailed knowledge of housing legislation including knowledge of forthcoming changes and their impact on service delivery.
