At GXO, we are seeking a dynamic HR Manager for a maternity cover position to join our experienced team in Barnsley, supporting our customer, ASOS. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of a comprehensive and integrated HR service for the Barnsley site, focusing on executing a robust People Plan aligned with site and GXO HR objectives.
A unionised large site environment with approx. 4,000 colleagues, the role is essential in fostering positive relationships with the unions, managing a team of ER specialists, enhancing colleague engagement and wellbeing, and overseeing the payroll team.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract position, working Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00, with flexibility on start and finish times.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £65,000 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
Support and ensue an active role within the site SLT
Ensure standards and capability at all levels of the business are maintained via leadership development; management training; succession and talent planning etc
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processes are followed
Align people-related policies and processes to ensure legal compliance
Successful delivery of site people plan
Encourage the HR team to constantly review and improve HR processes
Undertake an active role within the HRM business unit peer group
What you need to succeed at GXO:
Demonstrable experience in a similar HR management role, preferably in an operational environment, with exposure of dealing with trade unions
A proven track record in change management and the ability to drive HR transformation
Strong interpersonal, leadership, coaching and motivational skills
An organised, data-focused and conscientious approach to your work
