My client, a leading Law firm, whose roots are in the UK and have now evolved into a European firm with a global practice are looking to appoint an experienced HR Manager to work closely with the existing HR Team with the possibility of eventually progressing to HR Director for the right candidate.
The organisation has over 250 staff, and operates from offices in London, Frankfurt, Munich and Madrid.
This role is based in the London office, but offers hybrid working.
The main duties of the role will include;
- Working with the HR team to ensure smooth running of the monthly payroll process which is outsourced and include checking payroll and post reports to ensure compliance requirements met, both for the UK and EU, to include overseeing Pay Gap reporting.
- Working with the existing HR Director:
- To assist in the smooth running of the HR Department
- Overseeing policies and procedures
- Updating Staff Handbook, including non-UK offices, to reflect changes in employment law
- Recruitment and retention
- Induction process
- Monitoring performance including attendance and absences
- Overseeing the appraisals process
- Contentious HR - to include handling disciplinary processes and grievances
- Working on new HR projects
Role requirements
Essential:
- CIPD qualification
- Experience of working at HR Manager level in a professional services environment for a minimum of 5 years.
- Experience of dealing with contentious HR issues.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good working knowledge of payroll and benefits
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law
- Proven ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with individuals, externally and internally, and at different levels of seniority
- Proven ability to work effectively both as a team player and independently with initiative
- Proven ability to stay calm in often demanding situations and to be able to work well under pressure
- Exceptional organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of German and/or Spanish employment law would be very useful but is by no means essential.
