Job title:          Humanities teacher - Maternity Cover

Location:         Wetheringsett Manor, Suffolk

Salary:             Up to £38,000 per annum

Hours:             37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:15-16:00

Contract:         Permanent, Term Time Only

About the role

To secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Head of Education / Deputy Head.

To teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum. Including vocational subjects centred around expanding pupil knowledge and broadening their horizons.

In consultation with the Head of education / Deputy Head undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum.

 Specific Roles and Responsibilities

  • To play a key role in the development of SEN provision within Wetheringsett Manor School.
  • To work with schools, parents, key agencies and the young people with SEN to ensure effective and successful inclusion of pupils including those with SEMH within Wetheringsett Manor School.
  • To support the development of learning styles and appropriate teaching approaches, behaviour management, classroom strategies, resources and whole school policies for children with complex needs and diagnoses within Wetheringsett Manor School.
  • To work with the schools therapy team and build strong curriculum based on the needs of the students. 
  • To enable access to learning and social opportunities for pupils with SEN through the delivery of teaching, support, families and the young person.

Key Skills Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Have a background of delivering teaching at a good or outstanding level

About the School

Wetheringsett Manor School is a new independent day SEMH School for up to 42 pupils aged 11-18. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.

Wetheringsett Manor School has gone through significant refurbishment and is based in Suffolk, East Anglia and opened to pupils in November 2020. The Manor House is in 17 acres of parkland with wooded boundaries and sits on the edge of the village of Wetheringsett. The accommodation also provides several other buildings including a converted stable block, a cottage and two industrial units.

We pride ourselves in steering pupils in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to progress them both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements.
