Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) - Merton
Contract - Permanent Hours - Full time 37.5 hours - Monday to Friday 9am-5pm Hybrid ContractSalary - 28.8k - 30.8k - Depending on Safe Lives Qualification Are you passionate about empowering survivors of domestic abuse? We are looking for a skilled and empathetic Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, tailored support to individuals at high risk of domestic abuse, advocating on their behalf and helping them achieve safety and stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Support and Advocacy:
- Work directly with survivors of domestic abuse, conducting risk assessments and creating individual safety and support plans.
- Provide practical and emotional support, linking clients to appropriate services such as housing, legal assistance, and counselling.
- Support clients through the criminal justice process, offering guidance and information on legal options and court proceedings.
- Multi-Agency Work:
- Represent clients in multi-agency settings, ensuring their voice is heard and their needs are met.
- Work collaboratively with local authorities, social services, and other organisations to provide holistic support.
- Case Management:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all casework, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Monitor and review client progress, adjusting safety and support plans as necessary.
- Awareness and Training:
- Contribute to raising awareness of domestic abuse and the role of IDVAs within the community and partner agencies.
- Deliver training sessions to other professionals on the dynamics of domestic abuse and effective responses.
Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse or other forms of violence.
- Knowledge of risk assessment tools such as DASH and understanding of the MARAC process.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and advocate effectively.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding and equality, ensuring the safety and dignity of all clients.
