Job Description :
This is a great opportunity for a VAT Accountant to make a move in-house with a boutique investment banking firm. You will report into the Head of VAT with responsibilty for the preparation of all VAT compliance and associated accounting for the EMEA and Asia Pacific group. Main Responsibilities
  • Preparation of monthly UK VAT returns based on Partial Exemption Special Method (PESM) for the UK group.
  • Preparation of non-UK (Germany, Spain, France, Portugal, Dubai, Singapore, China and Japan) VAT / GST return packs and assisting with other indirect tax obligations.
  • Weekly submission of Spanish SII reporting
  • Assist in the calculation of the annual capital goods scheme adjustments.
  • Monthly accounting and reconciliation of VAT / GST GL accounts and preparation of SOX files
  • Monthly review of transactions for reverse charge invoices for inclusion in monthly VAT returns.
  • Monthly review of sales transactions to ensure the correct PESM % is applied.
  • Ensure VAT consequences of inter-company transactions are documented, recorded, and treated correctly for VAT reporting.
You will be a part-qualified tax / accounting professional with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a VAT focused position. You will ideally have experience of working with a VAT Partial Exemption Special Method within a financial services environment. You will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the UK VAT system, whilst exposure to some international jurisdictions would be helpful. Knowledge of and experience in using accounting software systems such as Workday would be desirable. Morgan McKinley is acting as an Employment Agency and references to pay rates are indicative.
