Role Overview

Indirect Tax Assistant Manager is a newly created role for someone seeking to progress their career in indirect tax. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of VAT accounting with excellent numeracy and analytical skills, systems, process and process improvement, with a controls mind-set. They will have a good technical grounding in UK VAT and ideally have worked in one of the main accounting firms and / or insurance sector. Some experience with VAT partial exemption is preferable. It is essential that the successful candidate is able to explain technical VAT terms and requirements to non-Tax people logically and succinctly.

Role responsibilities

  • This is a permanent, full-time role for an Indirect Tax Assistant Manager to own the VAT compliance cycle and specific related projects as and when they arise.
  • Assistance with setting up VAT procedures, governance and risk model for the VAT Group.Assistance with the preparation a new Partial Exemption Special Method (PESM) proposal and with operationalisation of the PESM once approved by HMRC.
  • Assistance with communications and training for Accounts Payable and wider Finance teams.Assistance with ad-hoc VAT projects where required.

Experience

  • Experience in VAT reporting within a large company or accounting firm.
  • UK VAT technical specialist.
  • Some basic IPT knowledge is welcomed.
