Indirect Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager - Newcastle

The Firm:

An Independant firm with a UK wide presence and a strong sense of valuing the importance of understanding their clients and investing in long-term relationships within their the local community.

The Brief:

An opportunity for an Indirect Tax specialist to oversee the provision of VAT services and support clients to minimise VAT liabilities, support compliance issues and give tax planning advice.

The Role:

This will be tailored to the level (Manager/Senior Manager) and experience of the successful post holder, both in terms of technical ability and scope to generate work in the local market place, but will also include the following:

  • You will contribute to providing high quality VAT technical advice and solutions to both external and internal clients.
  • Identifying and advising on VAT planning opportunities, and undertaking specialist technical assignments as required.
  • Collate data previously reported in the VAT returns, and using that data complete VAT returns
  • Identify differences within the reconciliations, investigate those differences and provide a resolution
  • Monitor the VAT workflow for an extensive client base
  • Work with the wider business to understand any VAT issues and provide guidance and advice to resolve
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, confidently representing the firm to a high standard
  • Confidently work with the wider tax team to attract new business opportunities to grow the firm’s VAT client portfolio, including attendance at networking events
  • Develop more junior team members with their technical and soft skills
  • Supervisory within the team

Experience required:

  • CTA/ACA/CA/ACCA qualified with the relevant UK Indirect tax knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively impact and influence others
  • Previous experience or involvement in a business development environment
  • Relevant experience in a practice environment or a similar indirect tax role is essential - open to both In-house and practice experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a team
  • A leader of your work and your professional learning
