Job Description :

We are looking for an Industrial Relations and Organisational Effectiveness Officer to join our People Services team. This role is crucial in developing effective industrial relations and driving positive changes in people management to enable the delivery of corporate objectives through our people. The successful candidate will be at the heart of fostering good working relations with stakeholders and trade union representatives.

Day to day of the role:
  • Organise and facilitate meetings of the Brigade Joint Consultative Committees, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and recording matters arising.
  • Manage the Brigade consultation log, monitoring consultations and negotiations, and sharing key information with senior staff.
  • Prepare advice and guidance on industrial relations and organisational effectiveness issues for employees and line managers.
  • Improve communications around engagement, consultation, and negotiation with employees, enhancing transparency.
  • Liaise with managers and trade union representatives on issues arising from meetings, including actioning decisions and sharing progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of trade union and Equality Support Group (ESG) time off and facilities.
  • Undertake research and prepare briefing papers for committees and meetings.
  • Provide advice on employee relations issues, including conditions of service and implementation of agreements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience of servicing formal meetings in a unionised environment, including taking minutes and preparing agendas.
  • Proficiency with a range of IT applications and good keyboard skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and flexibly with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining administrative and management information systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage workloads and arrange meetings.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to establish and maintain working relationships.
  • Analytical skills for research and interpreting procedures and legislation.
