Infrastructure Engineer

Infrastructure Engineer needed to design, implement, and maintaining on-premises IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.  This is an excellent role offering in-depth infrastructure exposure and would suit someone with a strong background in systems administration, network engineering, and virtualisation technologies, with a passion for implementing innovative solutions. The role offers autonomous working and would suit an engineer who would like an all-encompassing networking role. Culture and team fit is essential, you will need strong troubleshooting skills, be able to think on your feet and come up with complex solutions.

  • Ideally certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.
  • Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualisation technologies, such as SD-WAN and SDN controllers.
  • Experience with implementing and managing enterprise-level storage solutions, such as SAN, NAS, and object storage systems.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and SOC 2, and experience in implementing controls to meet compliance standards.
  • Proven commercial working experience as an infrastructure engineer or similar role, with a strong background in systems administration, network engineering, and Virtualisation technologies.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Docker) and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Hands-on experience with Virtualisation platforms and services, such as AWS and Azure, including infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing/switching.
  • Familiarity with security principles, practices, and tools for securing IT infrastructure, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint security solutions.

This is working for an expanding MSP working on exciting projects in the defence sector so you will either be security cleared or willing to go through the process. Due to the nature of the projects, you will be involved in the end to end IT Infrastructure so previous design experience is essential. Working on servers, networks, storage systems, and virtualisation platforms, to meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
