We are currently recruiting for an Infrastructure Engineer (Microsoft Windows) to join our clients team.

The Infrastructure Engineer will be part of a team focusing on the design, implementation, and maintenance of Windows-based systems, with focus on administering Active Directory and Microsoft servers and services such as SQL Server, Exchange Server, Remote Desktop Services, and Endpoint Configuration manager both on-prem/ within Azure.

(Having skills in Azure or AWS would be a real benefit)

Central London based (4 days in the office/ 1 day from home)

Accountabilities (but not limited to):

  • Windows-based systems, including servers, workstations, and related infrastructure
  • Install, configure, & maintain Windows operating systems
  • Design, implement, and maintain Active Directory services, including user / group management, permissions, and security
  • Design, plan and implement new application installations
  • Support application lifecycles to ensure software suite remains in-support with timely upgrades
  • Ensure compliance is maintained with regular audits to ensure that license usage is correct
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide thought leadership
  • Mentor Service desk team to provide better support of the installed application base
  • Analyse system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular system maintenance to ensure high availability
  • Implement and maintain system backups, contribute to disaster recovery plans, and business continuity measures
  • Work with internal teams, to propose new applications and implement any requested applications
  • Collaborate with vendors and other 3rd-party teams
  • Second-line support of Windows environments as part of the Operations Support team
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deploy, configure, and manage Azure-based services, such as virtual machines, storage, networking, and identity management
  • Ensure system and data security by implementing appropriate access controls, authentication mechanisms
  • Technical issues related to Windows systems, Active Directory, and Azure services
  • Liaise with other IT teams and stakeholders to plan, execute, and support IT infrastructure projects
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in Windows systems administration, Active Directory, Azure, and AWS
  • Administration of assets within AWS

Experience

  • Supporting a large 24/7 operation
  • Desktop and server operating system environments
  • Strong knowledge of AWS
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certified and experience in ITIL aligned environments
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Configuration Manager desired
  • Knowledge of Application support, troubleshooting, and applications lifecycles
  • Microsoft's Remote Desktop Services and the provision of applications within full desktops
  • Amazon Web Services administration and support
