E.ON is looking for an Innovation Lead to join our UK Strategy and Innovation department. In this key leadership role, you will have the chance to improve E.ON's overall innovation ecosystem in the UK and make a compelling case for doing more throughout our UK business.

Main responsibilities:

  • Encourage and support innovation activities and make a compelling case for doing more throughout E.ON’s UK business, working closely with lines of business, Digital Technology and other functions
  • Improve innovation culture, skills and processes throughout the UK business
  • Coach and train organisation in innovation skills, mind-sets and behaviours, including development and delivery of bootcamps/training, running workshops
  • Establish a clear pathway and process for breakthrough innovation in the UK
  • Originate and drive breakthrough innovation projects, creating growth options which can be activated quickly
  • Push projects through the entire innovation delivery process - ideation, proposition development, testing, incubation
  • Track and report on innovation projects, capture learnings, make go/stop/pivot decisions
  • Provide thought leadership on innovation and be a deep subject matter expert, with credibility and track-record to earn the trust of stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships across E.ON’s UK businesses and with other parts of the E.ON (other regional units, COO-C, EIS, Group Innovation etc …)
  • Ensure the UK Board, UKLT and wider business understands the state of external innovation in the markets in which it competes
  • Work closely with E.ON Group Innovation, E.ON One and other areas to ensure the UK draws on the full range of group innovation activities to solve its problems and make the most of its opportunities
  • Connect E.ON to the external UK innovation community, develop and manage relationships with external partners including academia, accelerators/incubators, other businesses.

What we need from you

  • Deep experience working in an innovation team, innovation consultancy, on innovation projects or clear transferable skills
  • Experience of the end-to-end innovation process, including customer and market insight development, idea generation, proposition development, incubation, and scaling
  • Knowledge and application of innovation techniques and concepts
  • Experience of business model development
  • Strong customer, commercial, financial, and entrepreneurial acumen - leading the development of business plans and investment cases
  • Strong analytical (qualitative and quantitative), critical thinking, and conceptualisation skills
  • Ability to mobilise and lead cross-functional teams including where they do not have direct authority, collaborating effectively
  • Passion for innovation and ability to enthuse others
  • Degree level education, preferably in a numerate discipline
