Are you a skilled Financial Accounting leader who thrives in high-pressure environments? Do you have experience managing complex group structures and leading challenging year-end processes? A prestigious London-based organisation is seeking an Interim Head of Financial Accounting on a nine month contract, to navigate an exceptionally complex year-end. With a high-risk filing deadline looming and significant internal pressure to ensure a smooth process, they need a hands-on, vocal leader to take charge.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the year-end process, ensuring financial statements are prepared to a high standard and on time.
  • Acting as the key liaison for external auditors (Big 4), addressing queries and managing audit challenges.
  • Managing and developing a team of high-performing, qualified accountants.
  • Driving consistency in financial reporting across the organisation’s highly complex group structure.
  • Managing senior internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and efficient decision-making.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant, likely with a background in external audit, with extensive experience in complex group structures, and year-end delivery.

To be considered, please meet the following criteria:

  • A full accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), ideally with a background in audit to demonstrate the ability to “think like an auditor”.
  • Significant experience in leading year-end processes within large, complex group structures.
  • Proven ability to manage external auditors (Big 4 preferred) and drive financial reporting consistency.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing a team of high-calibre accountants.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments and confidently engage with senior stakeholders.
