Interim VAT Accountant - Robertson Bell : Job Details

I am seeking an experienced Tax professional to join a highly regarded international organisation to join them for a six month contract!

Offering incredibly flexible working, my client is seeking a VAT Accountant to ensure correct tax is calculated in a timely manner and liaising with advisors on complicated matters.

The main responsibilities include:

• Ensure accurate and timely VAT returns (and international equivalents) for the organisation.
• Maintain compliance with tax legislation across the group’s finance systems and processes, staying updated on changes.
• Provide tax guidance and training to finance and senior stakeholders as needed.
• Manage relationships with external advisors and HMRC, addressing queries and issues promptly.
• Assist with financial audits, statement preparation, and liaise with auditors.
• Handle statutory compliance reporting as required.
• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monitor and report EU electronic services and goods, EC Sales Lists, and higher value EU sales data.
• Lead quarterly VAT Group meetings.

The successful candidate will be:

• Part qualified Certified Taxation Advisor with VAT compliance experience
• Knowledge of VAT law affecting trade unions and corporations
• Proficient in IT, with intermediate Excel skills
• Familiar with UK, EU, and global VAT compliance issues
• Strong relationship building, communication, planning, and organizational skills
• High attention to detail, accuracy, numeracy, and data analysis
