IT Finance Analyst - Automation and Optimisation

Inside IR35 - Onsite

We are working with a leading banking organisation to hire a contract IT Finance Analyst - Automation and Optimisation for their London head office. The IT Finance Analyst will oversee the departments optimisation and automation improvements including expense budget and financial performance, conducting financial analysis and providing recommendations to allocate funds and resources effectively.

Role responsibilities:

  • Prepare and develop automation and service improvement programmes of work utilising underspend and cost optimisations.
  • Oversee the departments expense budget and financial performance, improving variance commentary/analysis on budget vs actuals to enhance decision making and cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Create transparency over the departments expense and expenditure costs accurately mapping forecasted costs against services.
  • Management and maintenance of the Service Catalogue accurately reflecting business consumption of the department’s services.
  • Enhance budget control, approval workflows and escalate risk and potential cost saves  in a timely manner. Streamlining complex data and monthly reporting to create accuracy over true cost saves and expected costs.
  • Improve financial literacy and accuracy of financial forecasts on behalf of the department, fostering collaboration with the department’s leadership team and wider Technology Financial Analysis and Reporting department.
  • Work collaboratively with the Financial Technology Reporting department to create FINOPS capability and supporting with the development of Financial tools on behalf of the department
  • Attend monthly Headcount and Financial Management Review meetings with L2 Management, monitoring actuals and spending trends, analysing the data to determine the correct allocation of funding.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensuring remain within departments set budget, forecasting and tracking financial results throughout the year.
  • Review current budget control processes and workflows and adopt and enhance new governance, process and procedure.
  • Prepare and develop annual expense budget proposals and funding requests, collaborating with the Department’s leadership team to develop a final consolidated budget and forecasting future budgetary needs.
  • Prepare and develop automation and service improvement programmes of work utilising underspend and cost optimisations.

Skills required:

  • Proven experience as a Budget Cost Optimisation Expert 
  • Awareness and experience of business financial service models
  • BSc/MSc in accounting, finance business or relevant field
  • Technology – conceptual understanding of technology foundations such as infrastructure (databases, operating systems, networks), cyber security, SDLC.
  • Experience as a Cost Optimisation Expert for Technology department 
  • Knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Excellent mathematical ability with analytical and quantitative skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Data – ability to manipulate and interpret large data sets from several sources. Knowledge of and practical experience applying data quality principles. The ability to present technical information in a clear and understandable way.
  • Presentation – experience creating and editing impactful PowerPoint presentations.
  • Concise writing – ability to express complex topics in clear, concise narrative. Ensuring key messages are maintained and are conveyed in a manner appropriate for senior audience
  • Financial Service experience desirable
  • Foundation background in economic, accounting and statistics desirable
