IT Helpdesk & Systems Support - Tech magician wanted!
Are you the go-to person when tech goes haywire? Do you dream in Microsoft 365 and have a love-hate relationship with printers? If so, we need you!
The temp role is office based, at a top University near Liverpool Street tube. Working 8.30am to 5pm. 37.5 hours per week. Could go permanent.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Helpdesk & User Support:
- Be the first line of defence for staff and students—solving IT mysteries.
- Fixing tech hiccups and making their digital lives easier.
- Handle software, hardware, and IT requests like a pro.
- Offer 1:1 training on Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, and VLE.
- Keep the AV systems in check
- because presentations shouldn’t start with "Can everyone hear me?"
- Create user guides and FAQs that even non-techies can understand.
System Management & Maintenance:
- Manage user accounts and permissions.
- Using (On-Prem AD & Azure AD—because security matters!).
- Keep the Microsoft 365 universe running smoothly (SharePoint, Teams).
- Monitor backups, security alerts and fix things before they break.
- Ensure networks, Wi-Fi, and servers don’t take surprise vacations.
- Help with disaster recovery planning.
IT Equipment & Asset Management:
- Set up and maintain laptops, PCs, mobiles & peripherals like a gadget guru.
- Diagnose and fix hardware/software gremlins.
- Keep track of IT assets (so laptops don’t mysteriously disappear).
- Ensure the printer fleet stays operational.
Collaboration & The Extra Mile:
- Cover for teammates when needed—because IT never sleeps.
- Represent team in IT meetings (sometimes they come with biscuits).
- Provide emergency out-of-hours support for major IT meltdowns.
- Support centre applications.
- Use Office 365, Brightspace VLE, CMIS & Adobe Creative Cloud.
Occasionally work outside normal hours for meetings, deadlines, or when the Wi-Fi decides to have a tantrum.
