IT Technician - Start December 2024Location: Hallfield School, Edgbaston, BirminghamSalary: £23,974 - £24,878 per annum (dependent on experience, skills, and qualifications)Hours: 40 hrs per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 5:00 pm)

We are seeking an IT Technician to support our school’s network and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. You’ll be providing vital first-line technical support to staff and students, ensuring their hardware and software needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to helpdesk requests, providing first-line support for PCs, laptops, printers, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Assist with user change requests and ensure compliance with security protocols, such as backups and anti-virus.
  • Maintain and upgrade hardware, install software, and keep ICT equipment ready for use.
  • Support teachers and pupils with IT needs in the classroom.
  • Manage the computer room and ensure a tidy working environment.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers for technical support when necessary.
  • Help oversee network improvements and ensure the smooth operation of the digital learning platform.

The Person

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience in a similar helpdesk or IT support role.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, PCs, laptops, and printers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside normal hours when required.
  • Experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
