Job Description :

Due to extensive growth and multiple acquisitions, this Firm are looking to recruit a Junior Accountant to join their experienced team of accountants within their Finchley office. The group has several subsidiaries ranging from Tax, Accounting, Legal, Financial Services and Executive Recruitment. Their mission is to disrupt the disjointed Professional Services space.

Responsibilities

Working with their team of accountants, you will be required to complete end to end accounting tasks for a range of SME businesses, using industry leading tools. On the job training and study support will be provided for the successful applicant. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain records of our clients using accounting software packages including Xero and QuickBooks
  • Use cloud accounting tools to process transactions, prepare and post journals, update all ledgers, perform bank reconciliations ready for the monthly reporting process
  • Bookkeeping for SME businesses using Xero
  • Liaising with clients on any queries
  • Making journal entries for all receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Undertake financial close procedures for the month end, including inter-company balance reconciliation
  • Assist in the preparation of year end accounts for Limited and LLP's under FRS 102, FRS Section 1A and FRS 105
  • Preparing of service charge accounts
  • Preparing extended trial balances including the final year end trial balance
  • Preparing corporation tax computation calculations and basic tax planning
  • Dealing with the preparation and completion of VAT returns
  • Provide ad-hoc accounting assistance and ensure clients receive an excellent service
  • Enquiring and corresponding with both Companies House and HMRC as required

Person Specification

  • Strong academic background (preferably in Accounting or Accounting and Finance related degree)
  • 1-2 years exposure working within practice
  • Excellent user of IT and in particular Excel and Xero
  • Willing to study towards a relevant professional qualification (ACCA or equivalent)
  • Team player with positive attitude
  • Being proactive and self motivated
  • Keen and committed to learn
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
