The Role

Empass Law are seeking an experienced Practice Manager/Compliance Officer who is keen to move to a highly regarded firm in Mayfair. We are looking to appoint an efficient and proactive Practice Manager/Compliance Officer to oversee our daily operations. This is a pivotal role, offering the chance to make a real impact within a friendly and supportive team. The role includes but not limited to the following responsibilities: -

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the office, ensuring smooth operations and high levels of efficiency

  • Support the Senior Partner with their managing, including recruitment, staff inductions, and managing employee records

  • Manage administrative tasks such as maintaining office systems, including IT

  • Coordinate office maintenance, supplier relationships, and insurance renewals

  • Ensure compliance with legal industry regulations and company policies, checking ID, address proof source of funding, source of wealth check 

About You/The Candidate

  • Proven experience in a Practice Manager role (minimum 2 years), ideally within a law firm

  • Understanding of how a law firm undertakes AML, especially source of funds and wealth in property transactions
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage various tasks simultaneously

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • A proactive, problem-solving attitude with a hands-on approach

  • Familiarity with office management procedures and SRA principles

  • IT proficient with experience in managing office software and systems

  • Understanding compliance procedures
