KS1 ASD Teacher

We are supporting a specialist primary school in seeking a dedicated KS1 Teacher to join their team, working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will have experience or exposure to Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) school environments. This role requires a qualified teacher who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons tailored to students with ASD, incorporating strategies suitable for SLD and MLD.
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages student engagement.
- Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and needs.
- Assess students’ progress and adapt lessons accordingly to ensure effective learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and professionals to support individual student needs.
- Participate in school meetings and training sessions to enhance teaching practices and contribute to the school community.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).
- Proven experience or exposure to SLD and MLD environments.
- Strong understanding of the educational needs of students with ASD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and organise effectively, ensuring all students can thrive.
