Join our multi-disciplinary consultancy team at Place Services, dedicated to supporting sustainable development across the public sector. We are seeking a Principal Arboricultural Consultant to co-lead our arboricultural services, delivering expert advice and innovative solutions to clients throughout the UK.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Lead the commercial and operational delivery of arboricultural services, managing a demanding caseload related to specialist planning advice, highway tree management, and vegetation affecting public highways.
- Conduct and evaluate complex arboricultural assessments, such as tree inventories and valuations, and advise on large-scale habitat management and creation projects.
- Design and undertake intricate arboricultural surveys using new tools and techniques, and handle specialist tasks on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Analyse and present complex data and evidence to recognised standards, review outcomes, and assess third-party compliance.
- Drive the commercial development of our arboriculture services, bid on high-value opportunities, and manage significant projects and contracts.
- Foster a professional, client-focused culture, build high-level client relationships, and maintain commercial awareness of the industry.
- Lead the development and delivery of promotional and learning materials, training activities, and events to enhance the recognition and reputation of Place Services.
- Build a collaborative, high-performance culture within the team, continually seeking to enhance performance and practice.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Educated to RQF level 6 (Bachelor’s degree) or equivalent substantial post-qualification experience.
- Qualified Professional Tree Inspector with strong evidence of continuous professional development.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies, e.g., M.Arbor.A, Institute of Chartered Foresters (MICFor).
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in development management, planning policy, legislation, and enforcement standards.
- Proficient in woodland creation/management, arboricultural assessments, and surveys.
- Strong people management skills with a focus on performance and development.
- Advanced skills in using common and specialist software packages, e.g., GIS and other ICT tools, for complex data management and analysis.
