Job Description :

First Achieve's Engineering Division are seeking a Lead CAD Designer for their client who are the UK's largest independent fencing, timber and builders' suppliers.

This innovative and exciting role within their Steels Department will involve leading a team of CAD designers in designing bespoke structural and architectural metalwork structures.

The Role

  • You will be leading a team responsible for developing innovative designs, ranging from intricate steel extension projects to unique, conceptual metalwork pieces.
  • In this role, you will use advanced computer-aided design (CAD) software to create, modify, and finalize layout drawings, including custom and related construction drawings.
  • A key aspect of the position is translating structural engineers' specifications into 3D general arrangements (GA's) using Autodesk Advance Steel.
  • Your projects will be diverse, offering new challenges each day for both you and your team in terms of design work.
  • We are seeking a dynamic individual with strong interpersonal skills who can collaborate effectively with design architects, building contractors, and other stakeholders. You should also have the leadership ability to guide a team and achieve targets by setting measurable KPIs for the department.
  • Additionally, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an organized filing system for all drawings and templates to ensure easy access. You may also take part in the daily operations, including estimating.

Experience

  • We encourage Senior Design Engineers and Lead CAD Designers to apply for this position. A strong background in CAD design is essential, with expertise in Advanced Steel or Tekla, particularly in working with structural steel or related fields.
  • Candidates should have advanced experience, with at least 5 years of CAD design software use, or an equivalent degree or technical education.
  • A customer-focused mindset and the ability to support the development of a team of CAD designers are key requirements.
  • As the leader of a CAD design team, you will manage workflow, track performance, and ensure the delivery of CAD drawings for each project. You will also be responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining CAD processes within the department.
  • The role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and IT proficiency.
