Lead Medical Officer Required for a School in Enfield
At Engage Education Services, we’ve specialised in recruiting education staff for over a decade. We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic Lead Medical Officer to work full-time at a fantastic secondary school in Enfield
Our team has built an excellent reputation in the local area, and we’re looking for more high-quality office staff to work with these schools.
Duties can include:
- Support all schools by organising their NHS programmes i.e. vaccinations (Flu, HPV, MMR, DTP+M) fluoride application, audiology, height & weight. This involves setting dates, distributing, and collating letters, reminders and consent forms and arranging an appointments timetable for each child to ensure the minimal disruption to class (and liaising with the Head of Governance and Data Protection as required).
- Keep up to date with Health and Safety regulations and maintain current First Aid certificates for staff across the trust.
- Liaise with Head teachers/ Trust heads of departments to arrange training for staff, i.e. diabetes, first aid, other specific training needed
- Notify the Head Teacher, Safeguarding department and/or premises of any serious accidents.
- Support Health and safety reporting with RIDDOR
- Notify and liaise with parents as the need arises, accompanying them to hospital should this be deemed necessary.
- Keep up to date with the needs of staff and children who have special medical conditions.
- Be supportive, caring, and empathetic for children and staff including listening to concerns.
- Provide support advice and guidance to school staff as necessary
- Support schools with medical and hygiene inspections as necessary.
- Provide emergency and routine first-aid treatment for pupils, staff, and visitors, including auto - injectors.
- Deal with emergency health related incidents.
- To prepare and support generic, and where appropriate specific, risk assessments and or care plans for situations and individuals.
- Supervising pupils that self-administer their own medication.
- Liaise with the Health Authorities as necessary, including NHS. Public health
- Cover absence, sick leave and training for school-based welfare officers when required
- To complete requests and referrals to external agencies when required, GP surgery, Hartwell, school nursing team
- Maintain and oversee the correct use of software linked to first aid
The ideal applicant will have:
- Experience working in a school
- Is calm, compassionate and able to care for children when they are unwell
- A real passion for working within an educational environment
- Experience utilising SIMS (School Information Management System) within an administrative role
- Valid first aid certificate
- Attendance Officer experience
