Lead QA Test Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead QA Test Engineer to join a fast-growing, highly regarded SME in the heart of Cambridge. In this pivotal role, you’ll shape testing best practices, ensure the delivery of high-quality software, and eventually lead a team of skilled QA Engineers. This company attracts some of the brightest minds in tech and is seeking a talented QA professional with strong academic credentials, exceptional problem-solving skills, and deep expertise in software testing to drive excellence within the QA function.

Location: Cambridge

Salary: Up to £100,000 + equity + excellent benefits

Requirements for Lead QA Test Engineer:

• Strong commercial experience as a QA/Test Engineer where you have helped shape testing/QA best practice within a software company
• Experience mentoring or leading junior team members
• This company values a strong academic history and requires a 2.1 or 1st class degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics, Engineering etc, having achieved at least ABB at A-Level (or equivalent UCAS points)
• A mix of both automated and manual testing experience
• Brilliant problem-solving skills
• Keen to continuously develop and learn new technologies & skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Lead QA Test Engineer Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess current QA processes and recommend best practice improvements.
• Take ownership of software quality across the business, ensuring robust and reliable releases.
• Work closely with other team leads to align and enhance quality assurance strategies across teams.
• Progress into the Team Manager role for the Quality team (currently seven people), providing leadership and direction over time.
