We are now seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Teacher of Maths to join our passionate team and make a real difference to our students’ education and development.

The Role:As Lead Teacher of Maths, you will lead and develop the Maths curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, accessible, and meets the needs of students with SEMH and a range of learning abilities. You will provide strong leadership to the Maths department, support and mentor colleagues, and work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive the continuous improvement of teaching and learning. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maths teacher with leadership aspirations or experience who is passionate about providing students with the skills they need to succeed.

This role comes with a TLR (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) to reflect the added leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Maths curriculum across the school.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Maths department, including performance management and mentoring staff.
  • Develop and implement strategies to raise achievement and improve outcomes in Maths for students with SEMH needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning in Maths, providing support and training as needed.
  • Tailor Maths lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH, ensuring they are motivated, engaged, and able to access the content.
  • Collaborate with other subject leaders and the SENCO to ensure a holistic and inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
  • Monitor student progress, assess their needs, and provide additional support or interventions where necessary.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and lead on the development of the Maths department.
  • Manage and allocate resources for the Maths department effectively, ensuring they support the delivery of high-quality teaching.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment, promoting students' emotional well-being and academic growth.

About You:

  • A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a proven track record in teaching Maths at secondary level.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience or a desire to take on a leadership role.
  • A passion for Maths and the ability to make the subject engaging and accessible for all students, particularly those with SEMH and diverse learning needs.
  • Experience in adapting teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with SEMH and/or additional learning difficulties is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating teaching and learning to drive improvements.
  • A proactive, empathetic approach to supporting students and staff.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
