Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Youth Learning Mentor to join our team, supporting students with a diverse range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and other challenging behaviours.

About the Role:

As an SEN Youth Learning Mentor, you will play a crucial role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and supporting their social, emotional, and academic development. Working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals, you will provide targeted interventions and personalised support to ensure each student reaches their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEND needs, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and challenging behaviours.
  • Develop and implement strategies to help students manage their emotions and behaviour, promoting positive outcomes.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to support the delivery of personalised learning plans.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adapting your approach as needed to meet individual needs.
  • Build positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model.
  • Support students in developing social skills, self-esteem, and confidence.
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to provide regular updates and involve them in the student’s learning journey.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people with SEND, particularly those with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and challenging behaviours.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with students who may have complex needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs, youth work, or mentoring are desirable, but not essential.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and supporting the holistic development of each student.
