Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Learning Mentor at our Brinsbury campus. You will join us on a full time, permanent basisand in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £23,497 - £25,678 per annum.

The Associate Lecturer role:

An exciting opportunity has presented itself in our Outstanding Fresh Start alternative provision at the Brinsbury campus. Are you looking to work in an exciting, innovative provision?

Ideally you are confident, an enthusiastic communicator and have experience in working with and supporting a diverse range of young people and will be passionate to inspire and to help them progress in education and be successful post 16.

Ideally you would have experience of supporting and learners with challenging behaviour to re-engage with education. Be an effective communicator who can motivate and inspire 14 -16 learners.

Key Responsibilities of ourLearning Mentor:

  • To motivate the individual learner and to monitor his/her progress in; and response to; their learning; encouraging personal evaluation; reflection and target setting; using value added to measure progression.
  • To set; in liaison with individual students; challenging SMART targets in relation to new measures of success using the relevant College management information systems.
  • To rigorously track and monitor the attendance of each student within a cohort of tutees and; where necessary; take appropriate action to rectify poor individual performance. This will/may include sustained liaison with the student.
  • To identify student needs and facilitate access to appropriate services to aid achievement; such as additional support; careers' advice and the enrichment programme.
  • To liaise with subject teachers; course leaders and Curriculum Team Managers on issues; working in accordance to the Student Referral Policy where appropriate.
  • To play a key role within the "student journey" process.
  • To work closely with 14-16 & Foundation prorgammes, to manage administrative duties with schools and local authroties. Including attednance reporting, safeguard reporting, EHCP annual review scheduling and direct commcuniations with stakeholders.

Our ideal Learning Mentor should have the below skills and experience:

  • A level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience of supporting young people with Additional Needs
  • Experience of delivering learning advice to students in a 1:1 or group situation
  • Detailed understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and Education, Health and Care Plans
  • The ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all levels; verbally and in writing
