  • Salary: £15.55ph
  • Location: London
  • Job Type: Temporary, Term Time (35 hours per week + 2 weeks) term time only

This role is crucial in providing essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), facilitating their access to and achievement of learning programmes, and supporting their personal development.

Day-to-day of the role of an LSA:
  • Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction of support managers and curriculum team leaders.
  • Support the development of self-advocacy and independent learning skills of learners.
  • Contribute to the assessment of students’ learning and personal progression, working with staff to develop person-centred support plans.
  • Provide support and assistance to learners for their personal care, safety, and well-being.
  • Anticipate barriers to learning and participation, developing intervention strategies to minimise difficulties.
  • Gain a thorough knowledge of learners’ needs and learning objectives.
  • Ensure learners can access and fully utilise College support services and participate productively in College life.
  • Ensure that specialist equipment, assistive technologies, and facilities are available and operational.
  • Support learners with additional physical/medical needs as necessary.
  • Report any mobility problems and safety issues in line with College Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Assist in the review of learners’ progress and update individual support plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications for the role of an LSA:
  • Minimum of Level 2 Maths and English
  • Experience of working in an education environment 
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues and maintenance of safe learning environments.
  • Experience and/or willingness to assist learners with personal care and mobility.
  • An understanding of the discrimination and difficulties faced by people with learning difficulties.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good IT skills.
