Learning Support Assistant - Harrow on the Hill

This role is based in a lovely school in Harrow who are looking for passionate Learning Support Assistants to join their team!

The role will be working with children with SEMH (Social and Emotional Mental Health) needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions, including those with Asperger’s Syndrome and those with a diagnosis of ADHD.

We will accept applications from candidates with a range of experience - experience within an SEND setting is desirable but not essential and training can be provided. It would also be beneficial to have experience working with challenging behaviours so anyone from a youth or support worker background would be encouraged to apply. Whilst experience is not necessary, the ideal candidate must have a desire and passion for working with children with SEMH and complex needs.

Your Role:

• Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis often with complex learning needs
• Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class
• Providing feedback to teachers and parents
• You will be assisting pupils with Complex Communication and Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties and other Learning Disabilities

• A range of behaviour management techniques
• To have worked with learners with a range of needs
• The ability to engage a young person in learning through a range of methods
• To be able to commit to working at the school for long period of time
• A resilient attitude
