As an LSA, you will be supporting children aged 4-11 in a mainstream setting, many of whom may have additional learning needs, including those with autism, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will work closely with the class teacher and other staff members to create an inclusive and nurturing environment that enables all students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in their learning, both individually and in small groups.
  • Assisting in the delivery of lessons and helping to adapt activities for students with additional needs.
  • Supporting children with SEMH, autism, or other learning challenges to manage their emotions and stay engaged in lessons.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Helping pupils with their social development and providing emotional support where needed.
  • Supporting the class teacher in maintaining a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Promoting inclusion and ensuring all children feel valued and supported.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Graduates in Psychology, Education, Youth & Community Work, or related fields.
  • Non-graduates with relevant experience in education, youth work, or support roles are also encouraged to apply.
  • A strong interest in working with young children, particularly those with additional learning needs.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach with the ability to support children with varying emotional and learning needs.
  • Experience (voluntary or paid) working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for working in education and supporting vulnerable children to succeed.
