Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a new Learning Technologist to join our new Campus Services centre in partnership with the University of Hull!

As a Learning Technologist, you will contribute to the successful delivery of a range of Master’s programmes, supporting staff and students in effective use of learning technologies to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

The role involves working collaboratively with colleagues across the academic and professional services teams to provide practical advice, guidance and training on relevant learning technologies for both synchronous and asynchronous delivery of content. The post-holder will support staff and students with use of learning technologies, including VLEs, lecture capture technology and relevant online and digital tools, and will promote the effective application of Technology Enhanced Learning across the programmes.

The successful candidate will also provide colleagues with technical support during teaching, helping to troubleshoot where necessary, and supporting the academic team to select and utilise appropriate and effective digital tools, platforms and applications for teaching and learning purposes.

The role will be on a full-time, permanent basis at the University of Hull London Study Centre.

What you will be doing as a Learning Technologist:

  • To support the academic team with setup and maintenance of the VLE
  • Contribute to the development of online training guides and related learning resources
  • Provide learning technology support for enhancement of course content and delivery
  • Collaborate with the academic team for Technology Enhanced Learning projects and initiatives
  • Keeping up to date with developments in learning technologies relevant to learning and teaching in HE
  • To provide basic, on-site technical support for both students and staff and where necessary, escalate problems to the central IT team
  • Support with maintenance of relevant technical equipment / hardware for course delivery

Key specifications we will be looking for:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification level (essential)
  • Demonstrates high level of fluency in written and spoken English (essential)
  • Relevant teaching or training experience in relevant area (essential)
  • Relevant experience of using learning technologies for learning and teaching (essential)
  • Experience of working with a range of learning technologies in both user and administrator capacities (desirable)
  • Experience of working in UK further education or higher education (desirable)
  • Proficient in use of learning technologies relevant to teaching, learning and assessment (essential)
  • Strong general IT skills, particularly the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook (essential)
  • Literate in Microsoft cloud products such as SharePoint and Office 365
  • Demonstrates cross-cultural awareness and understanding (essential)
  • The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure (essential)
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision and thrive both on own initiative and as part of a team
